CF Montreal acquired goalkeeper Thomas Gillier on loan from Serie A side Bologna FC on Tuesday.

The deal runs through the end of the 2025 season and includes an option to extend the loan through 2026.

Gillier, 21, recently joined Bologna after making 26 appearances for Universidad Catolica in his native Chile.

"We are delighted to welcome Thomas to the club," Montreal managing director Luca Saputo said. "He is a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential who will add quality to the squad. We are convinced that he will integrate quickly into the group and bring healthy competition between our goalkeepers."

Montreal and Bologna are both owned by Joey Saputo, facilitating player movement between the two clubs.

Gillier will be eligible to play when the MLS Secondary Transfer Window opens on July 24.
